Today was the final day here at Huhehaote. With camp ending, emotions were running high. The final lessons were taught, but it was a relaxed day in which we enjoyed each others company as much as we could.
We cut learning activities down to only one session, so that we could prepare for the graduation ceremony. The event, which was supposed to take place within the school, ended up being an open event out in a public park. Several skits were done as the night before, then some songs and some dances, and all the graduation diplomas were presented to the kids. The "most improved" student awards were also given out, with a small speech given presenting the student and their progress to everyone present.
As we packed back into the buses and headed back to the school, goodbye's were being said to one another, tears were shed, emails were exchanged, and the hope of a new camp to be repeated next year was shared.
Tomorrow, we will go back for one last time to the school, eat breakfast, and then return to Beijing for the last days. We will also be able to see some of the students for one last time at breakfast, as the most dedicated of them will probably wake up early and come see us off.
We are all looking forward to go back and see our families and friends, while at the same time sad to see this chapter in our lives coming to a close.
To all the graduate students of the Naheya Bilingual School English Camp of 2010, Congratulations!
And, same goes to all the teachers who have been supportive throughout this whole camp.
