Day out on the town
When they told us that Monday was going to be home visit day, I was pretty nervous about it. Nne of us really knew what to expect. It has probably already been mentioned throughout this blog, but, in order to function here, it is vital that we all realize that we will not know what is going on until we are actually in the moment. With that being said I think some of the team was nervous but just keeping open minds. We were able to go to the kid's homes in pairs so it was comforting that no one was alone. Jums and I went out with a seven year old student in my class named Nancy. We had a busy but very enjoyable day with Nancy and her family. Her and her father showed us around Hohhot, we saw the schools Nancy attended and also walked through the Mongolian University. The highlight of our day was meeting both sets of Nancy's grandparents. They graciously invited us into their home and their hospitality was very warm and touching. After enjoying some time with her grandparents, they then took us out for pizza, shopping, and of course McDonnalds for dinner. Throughout the day we enjoyed great conversation and cross cultural experiences. .....Kate
