From Julia Damion: It's a rainy, rainy Monday in Fangshan, but everyone's spirits are high. The students are such a joy to be around, and their energy is boundless. Even though it's hot out, in the afternoon and evening they are enjoying our outdoor activities, which include sports and group games. There was a particularly epic game of dodge ball last night involving chalk, bowling pins, and lots of balls that looked like watermelons. We Americans get tired much faster than the kids do! We eat slower too, though our chopstick skills are improving day by day, thanks to the instruction of our Chinese friends (including the the helpful suggestion to "Use a spoon!"). Everyone has been so kind and genuinely interested in learning about where we come from, and what we like about China! I am learning from my students, and the relationships we are forming will hopefully last long after we leave. I'm really thankful to all who are thinking of me on this trip; love you! From Christo Bosch: Summer camp at Fangshan, Beijing in China is a wonderful experience. Our friends in China are the most wonderfully friendly people and loving people I've met. What a privilege to meet our brothers and sisters on the other side of the world. It was so good to make some new friends from North Carolina. We love you very much! The 9 kids in classroom #2 are so talented and eager to learn English. We hope that we have contributed to their English skills. We have built new relationships and have made a lot of new friends. We hate that we have to leave on July 29th, and we hope that we can come back soon. Thank you David Ostman for leading our group of foreigners in a very special way. We have learned a lot from your previous five visits to China. Thank you very much Li Chen, the headmaster, for having us. We really appreciate the excellent treatment, from you and all the staff.
