Monday
What an awesome day we had today! The temperature was at least in the upper 90s -- and we lost our power. No AC, no lights, no phones, no anything. That was rough, but it also allowed for two really neat positives.
#1. Our office has been being inundated by phone calls from parents, upset because "my child is not in the advanced class!" With the power being out today, the phones were not in service. The calls stopped!
#2. Each day, one of the camp's classes is chosen to clean the dining room after each meal; today was my class's turn to clean. Because the power was out during our supper time, everyone was told to leave the dishes on the tables, that the kitchen crew would take care of them. But just as everyone was leaving after having finished eating, the power was restored. Praise Him! At first, the idea was to bring each class back into the dining area to take care of their things, but MY class took over. Of my seventeen kids, at least a dozen of them were picking up dishes, bowls, and chop sticks, taking them over to the sinks, washing them, and putting them away. Then they swept and mopped the floor. I was so very proud of my kids; they did a wonderful job -- and earned 50,000 points for our team, which catapulted them back into first place! They truly showed a spirit of service to the whole camp.
Thanks again for keeping us in your thoughts; you are precious to us.
