English Camp continues! The first three pictures you see here are from our Fang Shan team. Here is a note from two of the teachers on that team:

Hey this is Jen and Evan. So we wanted to start off by saying that we are in Fang Shan which was very unexpected, but everything seemed to fall into place for us to be here. We are teaching an advanced class of 10 older kids which gives us opportunities to do some fun things in class. They are a good class to teach and are very talkative and enthusiastic during class time. On Wednesday we talked about animals and in that lesson animal idioms were included.

One of them was " it's raining cats and dogs" we didn't know how well the lesson stuck with them until later that night during the water fights. The teachers all had to stay in a small square while students threw water balloons at them. Right before it started, one of our students shouted out ' miss Jen it's going to be raining cats and dogs" As you can see class is going very well and camp is a lot of fun for the kids and for us. The next two pictures you see are from our Inner Mongolia Team. These are pictures that were taken during the first few days in Beijing, as the team was touring. In picture number 4, the team is trying to find comfortable places to sit on the train as they travel to the Great Wall. The last picture is the team's first completely Chinese Meal.
Here is a note from one of our Inner Mongolia teachers:

On Tuesday we arrived in Hohhot Inner Mongolia after a very long and exhausting 10 hour bus ride. We were met at the bus station by Headmaster Cao of the school where we will be teaching. We were taken to a local motel and we have settled into our home away from home (it is really nice to be in one spot for awhile). Over the last couple of days, the headmaster has been a gracious host and is doing all he can to make us feel welcome. Yesterday we were treated to a welcome to Mongolia “hot pot” lunch. It was an amazing experience! Each person had their own hot pot and were given a stock base in a pot. The stock was brought to a boil and we added raw ingredients (meat, veggies etc) to cook. We then took out the cooked food, dipped in a peanut sauce and ate. We left the restaurant feeling very full. This is very surprising since most of us are still learning to eat with chopsticks.

Today we officially began camp. The morning was spent assessing the children’s English speaking skills. We then divided them into three classes based upon those skills. In the afternoon, we played games. After supper we were taken to a park, paraded around and asked to dance several dances. We drew quite a crowd! The children are wonderful so eager to learn and willing to interact with us. We are all looking forward to the next 12 days. Karen W.

Our third camp in Jinan is doing well too. We don't have any pictures to show yet, but they have about 50 students, and they are having a great time. They will end their camp on the 23rd, then come back to help with the last few days of the Fang Shan camp.
